1922 Opt. 'CHINA' 2nd issue 1c to $2 used set each individually on piece, tied by a clear full strike of 'LIU-KUNG-
TAU' index A, Webb type C year 1923 with different day and month. 2nd issue 50c was not introduced to the public

1920 Fiscals stamps 1 cent to $1 complete set of 5, in August 1920, the Colonial Office approved a suggestion from
the Board of Inland Revenue that 'unappropriated' fiscal stamps be used as revenue stamps at Wei Hai Wei. Very fine

1917 (8 Dec.) An opt. 'CHINA' 10c registered envelope size G 25c - $2.50 with opt. 'CHINA' 4c from Liu Kung Tau
to Shanghai. the basic rate for a registered letter from the Wei Hai Wei Naval Base was 14c. Tied by 25mm single
ring 'LIU-KUNG-TAU' index C, Br.P.O cds, Webb type C. early usage of the opt. 'CHINA' issues. Alongside with
rare 'R/LIU KUNG TAU: B.P.O/No. 860' reg. frame chop in black. Norton type C and Type R2 as The Crown Colony
Of Wei Hai Wei by Michael Goldsmith. According to the cancellations Of The Treaty Ports by Hans Schoenfeld, this
registration frame chop can be found with two kinds of ink colour, black and violet. It mentions that the latest usage
of the violet ink chop is dated 6th July 1911, and the latest of the black ink chop is dated 21st September 1930. Rare

1918 (27 Sept.) An opt. 'CHINA' on 10c registered envelope size H to Isle of Wight, England. One stamp is missing.
Tied by single ring 24mm 'WEI-HAI-WEI/PORT EDWARD' index B, Br.P.O cds, Webb type unknown because of
missing a bar between the words Port and Edward. h/s 65 x 20mm 'R/PORT EDWARD/NO. 2064' reg. frame chop
in black, this size reg. box chop is not mentionned in any catalogue. This is similar to Type R3 size 61 x 21mm
with a bar between the Treaty Port name 'Port' and 'Edward' described by Michael Goldsmith, The Crown Colony
Of The Wei Hai Wei, P34. And the earliest known date is 22nd July 1918. With England Officially Sealed label and
'SHANKLIN/22.11.18' arrival cds on reverse. Cover center folded and some soiling, but still a rare item to study the
various registered markings of Wei Hai Wei. Photo
